Info from the video
- 00:37 video navigates to the “Full screen” chart
- 00:40 The “Settings” option
- he demonstrates the “Grey Background Strip” switch
- which turns the grey background bars on the chart on or off, displayed or not.
- 00:50 under the “Y-access scale”, the option labeled “Linear” is on
- he says: which means we’re looking at it in dollars value
- he’s talking about the dollar value of the stock
- that goes vertically towards the right side of the screen
Indicators
- 01:12 he clicks on “Indicators”
- Within the sub-menu, under “Commonly used”, he clicks “Moving Average”
- A screen is displayed titled “Moving Average”
- with several options to set it up, and a “Save” button.
- A screen is displayed titled “Moving Average”
- He says he wants to add three of these:
- 200 day
- 50 day
- 20 day
- Within the sub-menu, under “Commonly used”, he clicks “Moving Average”
He adds the first indicator, as a 50 day moving average indicator
- 01:20 he takes advantage of the default for “Period” – 50
- he keeps the “Type” as its default “simple”
- and the “MA” color he’ll keep as purple
- he then clicks the “Save” button
- 01:25 the line is now displayed on the chart as a purple line
- when you look at the price,
- that’s showing you what the average price was over 50 day period
- relative to the stock price, on that current date in history
- when you look at the price,
- This also adds a little rectangle with the contents: MA (50,C,MA,0)
- as you move the cursor around on the graph,
- this box also displays the stock price for this line in the same color
- You can remove this indicator (line) by clicking the close icon (X) in the little rectangle box
He adds the second indicator, as a 200 day moving average indicator
- 01:42 he types in 200 for the “Period”
- he keeps the “Type” as its default “simple”
- and he changes the “MA” color to Red
- he then clicks the “Save” button
- 01:48 the line is now displayed on the chart as a red line
- 200 days, this a longer time frame, so there is less movement in the arc of that line
- This also adds a little rectangle with the contents: MA (200,C,MA,0)
- as you move the cursor around on the graph,
- this box also displays the stock price for this line in the same color
- You can remove this indicator (line) by clicking the close icon (X) in the little rectangle box
He adds the third indicator, as a 20 day moving average indicator
- 01:54 the next indicator we’re going to add, is exponential, but again, Moving Average
- he selects “Moving Average” from the sub-menu
- he types in 20 for the “Period”
- and he changes the “MA” color to Green
- he changes “Type” to “exponential”
- 02:04 What exponential means
- is that its going to move a little bit tighter to the actual stock price
- This also adds a little rectangle with the contents: MA (20,C,EMA,0)
- as you move the cursor around on the graph,
- this box also displays the stock price for this line in the same color
- You can remove this indicator (line) by clicking the close icon (X) in the little rectangle box
- 02:13 Because the green line is only 20 days, and because it’s exponential,
- it really follows quite closely to what the value actually was.
He uses this as his default setting
- 02:22 – 20 day, 50 day, & 200 day
- he demonstrates how to adjust or set different Period amounts, change the color
